Rush In Art Academy provides quality academic art training for children aged 6 and older. We offer group and private art classes for kids and teens, as well as private and group classes for adults. We assist with creating art portfolios for college applications. You can celebrate birthdays with us and spend school breaks and summer vacations engaged in our programs.
Rush In Art Academy employs a classical academic approach to teaching drawing, painting, sculpture, composition, calligraphy, stained glass, pottery on the wheel, jewelry making, mosaic, and silk painting.
Our lesson plans include a short story related to the topic, instructions, demonstrations, and a practical stage where students create their own artworks. Step-by-step instruction, an individual approach, teachers’ samples for every subject, and peer examples allow students to succeed at any skill level. If you plan to continue your education, we will start with the basics of realistic study and gradually guide you to a master level. We will teach you or your child to express themselves independently.
We offer ongoing classes with breaks only for major holidays. Classes cover a variety of topics and techniques, which are rotated. Special art technique classes are held during school breaks and summer. We can also arrange these classes at any time for pre-formed groups upon request. The same applies to homeschool groups.
We provide numerous ready-made projects for art educators, complete with detailed instructions, samples, and a list of required materials.
Rush In Art Academy is a home-based studio in Ann Arbor. Teaching occurs in a very informal, friendly environment in small, cozy groups led by a professional artist and teacher with many years of experience, who earned her master’s degree in Fine Art in Russia, the motherland of realistic drawing and painting.
The projects kids produce in class are always original! No coloring books, crafts, or cut-and-paste projects! For younger kids, we use a carrot-and-stick approach: original pre-drawing first, followed by a variety of media, techniques, and materials on top of that pre-drawing. Classes are 1,1.5 or 2 hours long, and to keep young kids focused, we switch their attention to different aspects of multi-step projects a couple of times per class. We keep EVERYBODY happy!
